Abbreviations
st = stitch
k = knit
p = purl

Material: 250 g (300 m / 328 yd) yarn, needles 7 (US 10.5), 4 buttons, sewing yarn

Gauge in double moss stitch: 15 st ˜ 10 cm (4 in)

Measurements: 147 x 24 cm (58 x 9.5 in)

Edge stitch: Slip the first stitch of every needle without knitting or purling it. Slip it knitwise if you purled the last st of the previous row. (Insert the needle through the first stitch from front to back and slip the stitch off.) Slip it purlwise if you knitted the last st of the previous row. (Pass the needle under the yarn and insert it in the first st from right to left. Slip the st off and pass the yarn over to the back of the work.)

Pattern

Please read the pattern before you start.

Cast on 38 stitches and knit in double moss stitch as follows:
Row 1: edge st, * k1, p1, repeat from *
Row 2: edge st, * p1, k1, repeat from *
Row 3: edge st, * p1, k1, repeat from *
Row 4: edge st, * k1, p1, repeat from *
Keep repeating these four rows.

Continue knitting in double moss stitch while making button holes as follows:
Row 5: knit 3 st, bind of 2 st, * knit 8, bind of 2, repeat from *, end with knitting 3 st.
Row 6: knit 3 st, cast on 2 st, * knit 8, cast on 2, repeat from * end with knitting 3 st.
Row 17: knit 3 st, bind of 2 st and knit the remainder of the row.
Row 18: cast on 2 st where you bound of 2 in the previous row.
Row 29: knit 3 st, bind of 2 st and knit the remainder of the row.
Row 30: cast on 2 st where you bound of 2 in the previous row.
Row 41: knit 3 st, bind of 2 st and knit the remainder of the row.
Row 42: cast on 2 st where you bound of 2 in the previous row.

Bind of at a total length of about 147 cm / 58 inches.

Finishing: Weave in ends, block and attach buttons on the short side opposite the button holes.
